Instructions to users

Working hours

    Library is kept open on all working days from 9.a.m. to 8.p.m. On all Second Saturdays and Sundays not forming part of public holidays, working hours is fixed as 10.a.m to 4.p.m.  Monthly holidays will be notified on the notice board.

 General Information

  • Members are not allowed to use mobile phones inside the library
  • New arrivals are displayed every Monday.
  • Members are requested to show their Library identity card at the entrance before entering the Library.
  • Members are not permitted to take personal belongings inside the library.

  • Strict silence shall be observed in the Library.

  • Smoking is not permitted inside the Library.

  • Books should be handled with care.

  • Readers are not permitted to take books and other printed materials inside the Library.

  • Library is a place for individual study and research and members are   therefore to conduct   themselves inside the library in such a manner as is conducive to this purpose.

  • Members shall leave the library ten minutes before the closing of the library.

  • Journals, both bound volumes and loose issues manuscripts, patents, theses, reference books, damaged or worn out books will not be issued on loan.

  • A book can be re-issued to the same person if there is no reservation for it. Not more than two consecutive renewals are permitted. Further renewal is not permitted at any cause.

  • An overdue charge of Re. 1 per day per book is levied from all members.

  • Damage or loss of books on loan shall be reported to the Librarian immediately. Borrowers are responsible for any damage or loss of books occurring during loan period. Any mark or mutilation on book will be considered damage and will be dealt with accordingly.

  • If a book is lost, the borrower must replace it with its latest edition. If the book is out of print, the current price plus 2/3rd penal charge will be levied from the borrower. If the book is out of print the price will be fixed according to the discretion of the librarian, taking into account the importance and demand of the book.

  • NON-LIABILITY CLAIM: If a member has lost his/her borrower’s ticket or identity card issued from the library, he/ she has to report this matter immediately to the University Librarian. If the member has applied for withdrawal of membership, a Non-Liability certificate, such applications will be kept pending till the expiry of one month for detailed verification of the library records. If, no book is found issued against the borrower’s ticket, a non-refundable penalty of Rs.100/-(Rupees one hundred only) for each lost borrower’s ticket will be collected from the member and he/ she has to execute an indemnity bond.

  • RESERVATION: A member can reserve at a time as many number of books as he/she is eligible to borrow, provided they are issued out. The reservation cards are available at the circulation counter. This is to be filled up and presented at the counter. Member will be informed by email as and when the book is ready for issue, which is to be collected within the period specified.

  • Any change in address/contact no/Designation should be informed to the librarian.
